R129 hydraulic top Shaft clamp

If you're servicing the top hydraulic rams on your beloved Mercedes SL, then the chances are you will need to disassemble the hydraulic ram, and replace the internal sealing rings (supplied in our other listings). 

Some of the larger rams have eyelets which are fitted extremely tightly from factory. From past experience, we have run into issues where we have clamped the rams in order to remove these eyelets from the shaft, so that the top seal caps can be removed and replaced. The clamping of the shaft (even in soft vice jaws, covering them in tape, covering them with cloth) has been hit and miss. In the worst cases, we ended up damaging the shaft, and either scrapping the part or have to repair it, which is tedious. 

We then came up with the solution before you.

A custom made clamp, which eliminates the chances of damaging your hydraulic top units. 

These are designed to slip into the jaws of a vice (record type, 25mm jaw height).
